I read the book in 97 at 25. Reading it again now in 2019 at 47. Nobody had internet when I read it in 97. She gave a nice speech and I think she's an incredible actress just for portraying that role. I like the added humor but she definitely won me over with the sign language to her parents.

I get emotional when Louise Fletcher starts to sign to her deaf parents for providing support in seeing her dreams come true. Love her for that. Watched this movie last night. I can see why it was an instant classic.

I luv this movie so much i watched it for the first time a few days ago. There's something in Jack Nicholson's devilish look n that freakish laughter. Awesome. Love it. This is a very interesting and creative movie with emotion and power. It's about a man named Randle McMurphy who goes to a mental institution. Then it shows his many battles with Nurse Ratched. Nurse Ratched is an obstructionist and nasty character who everyone in the institution hates. Her attitude annoys people greatly even though she barely shows any emotion. Louise Fletcher did a great performance but Jack Nicholson is the one who steals the show. In my opinion, his acting was perfect. He was perfect in timing and character perception. The cinematography was excellent and the haunting score is also equally amazing. The ending takes a dramatic turn making it highly tragic but it shows a great deal of power and emotion and that is what makes it so great as a film. 4 decades later, it still holds up great and it's just as entertaining and moving as it was back in 1975. This is one of the 3 movies in history to receive all 5 top Oscars (Best Picture, Director, Actor, Actress, and Screenplay. This is also the most deserving film to receive those awards.

He could've left but he cared about what happened to Billy more. Even if Mac loses in the end he goes out by finally standing up to that bitch and removing her power in front of everybody, permanently ruining her voice and empowering the others. Fear spreads, but courage does twice as fast even if it takes longer to really reach people at first.

Oh hey Danny Devito. Daniel Plainview: There Will Be Blood. Some of the greatest actors ever, were in this film. She did a perfect performance. Few movie scenes affected me like this did and still does. Emotional rollercoaster. First the tension from wondering if McMurphy and Chief will make it out. Then extreme sorry and sadness for poor Billy. Then hatred for Nurse Ratched. Then concern for McMurphy losing control. What a beautiful, eloquent speech. This makes me appreciate the humble actors who speak from the heart and are truly appreciative of being part of a creative work. I wish the academy awards were still like this.

@ 2:20 you can see that Jack Nicholson genuinely feels happy for her. This hypnotic film is wonderfully layered and ambiguous when it concerns theme. Nicholson is terrific (obviously, need one more movie junkie say that. Danny DeVito really flaunts his acting skills here, giving us an undeniably memorable character with Martini. I was also surprised by Chris Lloyd, and Louise Fletcher is absolutely horrifying/terrific in this role.

The writing is top-notch; no subplot or suggestion goes unanswered. Every bit of dialogue, every irrational/mentally ill action seems strangely to fit. You can take from this movie what you will - see it as an attack on the inadequacies of the mental health system, a statement on what qualifies freedom, an inspiring tale, a depressing turn of events, a reflection on the chained and perhaps tainted human condition. It is all of these at once, and that is the beauty of it.

I saw this movie and it was awesome and also its 1 my favorite 70s movies 😎. She was a honey back then. sizzle.
